When in Galway recently, I did stop to read the poetry on the wall of The Connacht Tribune. Is this not an addition to the streetscape and the community spirit of the city centre?
I know I am in a minority but this would make me more inclined to purchase the Connacht Tribune than any neon sign or glitzy poster which might have been an alternative for the wall space.
THE TRIBUNE In this one I am going over a hill the bus negotiates with tremendous skill. The light is changing as we pass old people standing stock-still. The country edition’s dropped at half-lit shops where we stop and wait for a wave of a hand. News that travels is never late. GERARD DAWE |
