I hope to capture each of the Commemorative Plaques erected by Cork City Council. I started this page in March 2013. I think I have captured all but please do bear with me while I try to improve on the photographs of the plaques below and find any not yet recorded.

SIR JOHN ARNOTT
1814 - 1898 Born in Scotland, Sir John Arnott M.P. Used his Wealth from Rail, Shipping and Trade to Help Provide Meals for the Poor of Cork. He Established a Large Drapery Store on this Site.  Daunt Square
GENERAL TOM BARRY
1898 - 1980 Patriot, Commander of the Third (West) Cork Brigade, I.R.A. Author of "Guerilla Days in Ireland". He Lived Here.

1815 - 1864 Mathematician, Inventor of Boolean Algebra, Professor of Mathematics, Queens College (Now U.C.C.). He Lived Here from 1848 to  Assembly Rooms, South Mall
RICHARD ROLT BRASH
1817 - 1876 Architect and Antiquarian. Designed this Building, the Former Assembly Rooms in 1865

SIR THOMAS DEANE
1792 - 1871 Architect and High Sheriff of Cork. Designed Queens College (now Universtity College Cork) and this Building.  Cornmarket St
DON JUAN DE AQUILA
Commander of the Spanish Forces at the Battle of Kinsale. Reputed to Have Stayed at Portney's Lane for Some Months After the Battle in 1601  Rory Gallagher Place, Paul St
RICHARD DOWDEN
(RICHARD) 1794 - 1861 Co-Founder of the Temperance Movement, Poet and Botanist. Mayor of Cork in 1845. Managed Jenning's Soda-Water Factory which stood near here.  MacCurtain St
RORY GALLAGHER
1948 - 1995 Musician and Composer. He Lived on this Street.  14 French Church St
JOSEPH HIGGINS
1885 - 1925 Studied at the Crawford School of Art, while Working for the Firm Newsom and Sons in this Building. He was one of Cork's Finest Sculptors  Metropole Hotel, MacCurtain St

EDWARD HINCKS
1792 - 1866 Son of Thomas Dix. Linguist and Antiquarian. Deciphered Ancient Syrian Cunieform Writing. He was born here.  Unitartian Church, Princes St
REV THOMAS DIX HINCKS
1767 - 1857 ? Hincks Founded the Royal Cork Institution in 1803. He was Minister of this Church.
