“Still, a man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest.”
Simon & Garfunkel – The Boxer
Few achieved a pass mark.
Many would identify a shopfront or a shop window but above those levels, I think that many do not take in what is there.
These heads are all on one building in Cork city centre.
‘Robert Day’s family ran a large saddlery business in Cork city along with a sports shop, well known to Cork anglers.’ I recently had the book out from the library. This building was occupied by Days and had ‘Wines’ and ‘Teas’ on the first floor windows. With four separate commercial premises the buildings were each distinct. The monochrome treatment by Dunnes Stores does make it more unlikely that one will take in and observe the detail in the upper floors. The riddle for myself yet to be resolved is what ‘R’ and ‘J’ stand for. |
