Mayo on Monday and spotted this plaque. My first thought was that if plaques were erected for the mothers of all politicians, there would be an awful lot of plaques around the place. Resorting to the web, some articles were located. Different times and different expectations – imagine the employment and health & safety case that could have been brought by his father under today’s rules. That was some decision by Mary Therese Cooney to try to keep her children together as a family – reason enough for a plaque, I think. |
